Artist / Odd Cult
New England-raised self-taught artist Heather L. MacKinnon, raised by a single mother of three and growing up poor, became determined from a young age to pursue what she wanted to do: art.
In 2011, MacKinnon landed in San Francisco to pursue tattooing. After a couple years as a tattoo apprentice at Blue Dragon Tattoo, she relocated to Seattle, WA, where she still works hard everyday to create art for clients and her own brand, Odd Cult, as well as showing in galleries.
She has a deep understanding and appreciation for traditional tattooing, primarily WW1 and WW2 traditional styles. She also brings her own life experiences to her work such as growing up in New England, often depicting the nature, superstition, occultism and rich history that New England has. Applying techniques learned from her college education in commercial art, she flourishes with the flexibility between being both a fine artist and digital artist. Her work is often scanned in, edited, and used by her clients either as logos, t-shirt designs, or cycling apparel by herself.
